Livingston, Alexander & Levy began its existence on the 10th February 1911 making it in 2009 the oldest law Firm in Jamaica. In 1911 whilst the machinations of the great European powers produced anxiety which presaged the great conflict of 1914, the Western world was enjoying a release from the convention and restraint of the Victorian era: The Waltz flourished, the Model T Ford was putting America on wheels, man first set foot on the South Pole . In that year the Daily Gleaner cost one penny and the colonial Legislature enacted a law providing for the registration of Trade Marks. Such was the context in which Noel B Livingston (later Sir Noel) and Harold V Alexander (later the Honourable) became partners under the name Livingston and Alexander. Mervyn King Clarke of Black River in Saint Elizabeth was a partner for a short time and the Firm became Livingston, Alexander & King. Aston Theodore Charles Levy joined the partnership in 1930 and fifteen (15) years thereafter the Firm became Livingston, Alexander & Levy.
