More About Fusion: Fusion Caribbean is a small Christian charity that has been working in West Kingston since 2004. Fusion works with young people (age 12 – 17) and children (age 4 – 11) as well as working with their families, peers, schools, and wider community. This is to encourage change in the external factors that influence these children and young people, while at the same time encouraging internal character development for them as individuals. Fusion works through a voluntary full time team, working alongside part time volunteers, including many of the young people themselves, local church members, local community members and staff from schools and other organisations. Fusion Caribbean is part of Fusion International (www.fusioninternational.org), a youth and community movement that started in Australia in 1960 that is now working in 17 countries around the world. Starting over 50 years ago in the heart of an ‘at risk’ teenager named Mal Garvin (in Sydney Australia) Fusion has carried a vision of young people and their communities coming together with hope. Mal developed practical insights and training to help other youth and community workers turn that vision into a reality, and those insights and vision are what continues to shape the work of Fusion around the world, including the Caribbean.
